INTRODUCTION
After World War II, the world took sides. First, Europe was divided between Capitalism and Communism. The Soviet Union created an "Iron Curtain" as a shield against agression, and the United States sought to strengthen its spheres of influence.
In the following activity, you will learn:
1. The principal world leaders during the Cold War
2. The geographical breakdown of the opposing sides
3. The countries wherein the Cold War turned "Hot"
TASK
Upon completion of this activity, you will have a color-coded map of the world during the Cold War. We will refer to this quite often as we get to know the important personalities of the second half of the 20th Century.
Within the map, you will create hyperlinks to photos and information about the personalities from that country.
Finally, special links will be added to indicate armed conflicts, their causes and outcomes.
PROCESS
1. Go to the link for the blank world map and copy it to mis imagenes where you can rotate it and copy it to WORD.
2. Label the Soviet Union (USSR) in red using a text box with invisible borders.
3. Go to the Stalin link, copy the picture to a WORD document and summarize Stalin's biography on the same page.
4. Create a hyperlink to the Stalin WORD document with a call out box (llamada).

CONCLUSION
You now have an awesome source of information about the Cold War, its conflicts (Overt and Covert), and the personalities involved. We must understand how fear and lack of tolerance and understanding led the world to the brink of nuclear war. Without transparency, world leaders brought about the deaths of millions of people and an untold number of violations of human rights.
